Pure nature

Why do people go to the Alps for holidays? It's nature that draws them there! The calming deep green of the forests, the magical shimmering of crystal clear mountain lakes, the warm, velvety texture of wood, the scent of flowers and grasses. Or of fresh snow in winter. It doesn't matter what season it is: when you're staying in a dreamlike setting and have perhaps travelled a long way to get there, you'll want to enjoy it around the clock. Not only by going on excursions, not just by looking out of the window. But also when you come back from a hiking tour or a day's skiing and you put your exhausted feet up in front of a roaring fire. When you fall into a relaxing slumber in a cosy bedroom. Or when you enjoy a hearty breakfast at a generously laid table and are looking forward to another day in the mountains. That's why it was especially important to Ott Architekten with the eight holiday apartments in Bad Kleinkirchheim that they were creating to bring nature into the living spaces: with local materials, with a restrained design. And of course with the right kind of surfaces, as natural-looking as possible, with coatings by ADLER.

Warm earthy shades

From the front door, you can see the Carinthian Nock Mountains, behind it Mont Blanc – you could put it like this with a little exaggeration, because the beautiful light-coloured spruce that dominates the interior furnishings has been finished with ADLER's interior glaze Lignovit Interior UV 100 in a shade that takes its name from this huge French/Italian mountain. Inspired by the snow-topped mountain, it gives the wood a whitish look, but with no risk of yellowing. The walls and ceilings, which are made of solid wood, were painted by Malerei Ebner from Spittal an der Drau. "We immediately agreed to our client's suggestion as we have already been using ADLER's high-quality products for some decades now," underlines junior manager Peter Ebner. The areas that are subject to heavier wear, such as the interior doors and entrance doors, the little seating areas in the windows, the beds, the writing desks and the banisters on the staircases, were given additional protection by carpentry workshop Tischlerei Inform with a coat of ADLER's water-based clear varnish Bluefin Resist. Rieder, a window manufacturer from the Ziller Valley, used ADLER's Aquawood Finapro 20 for the spruce on the interior of the flush-mounted wood and aluminium windows, choosing the colourless version for a completely natural look. By contrast, Tischlerei Inform coated all the separating doors in the apartments which are flush with the walls with ADLER's Aduro Pigmocolor 4in1 in a refreshing spring water green to match the kitchen units – this grey/green shade is very relaxing and recalls a cheerful, bubbling brook in a mossy landscape.

Strong oak

Things are somewhat darker in the shared cellar by Bio.Design, which has a rather different look from the apartments. Behind the oak doors, which have been oiled with ADLER Legno Color Hellbraun-Eiche and ADLER Legno-Öl by Tischlerei Inform, you will find a fitness room, a vitamin bar and a sauna where guests can enjoy some sport or socialise with friends. These Carinthian experts in high-class interior design have also finished the oak fitted furniture in the same way, using the shade Braun-Eiche. The new holiday apartments are now awaiting their first guests in the winter. With an Alpine ambience and a "less is more" approach: calm, clear, harmonious – just like nature itself!
