Elegant ellipse as reception

A real eye-catcher, the entrance of the Donau-Iller Bank!
The reception desk is exceptional, elegant and yet discreet!

Reduced, discreet, elegant: this is how the reception desk comes across in the new Donau-Iller-Bank in Ehingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany. And especially in its simplicity, the furniture captivates the visitors. It is the extraordinary shape, the special colour and the consummate design, which make the entrance area an eye-catcher and perfectly convey what you want to express as a bank: openness and transparency reign here – and all that with a certain amount of style. Because the reception desk is curved. In a gentle sickle shape it nestles around the staff and turns into an ellipse with the back wall.

HIGH QUALITY

"We have also taken on this design idea for the two reception desks in the executive board office," says Michael Bucher from the joinery firm Schreinerei Wirth Bucher from Bad Waldsee, which is responsible for the extraordinary bank furnishings. He and his approximately 15 employees are experts for exceptional, high-quality projects, from self-designed individual items and high-end complete furnishings for private households, to contract installations and cooperating with renowned architects, as in the case of the Donau-Iller Bank. The striking new building was planned by Braunger-Wörtz-Architekten from Ulm. The bright, elegant counters fit perfectly into the light-flooded spaces, with the slight curve forming a nice contrast to the otherwise very straight lines of the architectural duo.

VELVET MATT

Admittedly, the nimble curve meant a great challenge when it came to the execution: "We had to make a separate template for each component on our 5-axis CNC machine," Bucher reports. In the main office counters made of MDF with a poplar core, two drawers are integrated, which naturally follow the ellipse shape, as do the doors and shelves on the back wall. This was covered with grey fabric for pleasant acoustics. As for the surface of the counters themselves, only ADLER came into the running for Bucher and his team.

"We primed all surfaces with ADLER PUR-Isofill to be able to sand them quickly. The colour coating was then carried out with Aduro MDF-4in1 from ADLER in the colour RAL 9016, to which we added a matting agent to achieve the full matt gloss level G10," explains the master carpenter. So that no joints were visible, everything was painted in one piece. In the case of the reception desk on the ground floor, this was unfortunately not possible due to the enormous size. Finally, a high table and a cabinet complete the ensemble, which was otherwise manufactured in the same way. With success - customers and employees are thrilled "by the bank"!
